ETP Shaft Locking Assemblies

ETP are specialists in the connection of shafts and hubs using friction instead of keyways.  Their internal hydraulic principle results in fast fixing, easy adjustment and quick removal.  Connections are backlash free with high concentricity.

The demand for the shortest possible down-times during maintenance and repair, and thereby lower “life time costs” for the machine operator, can be realised thanks to the extremely short assembly and disassembly times.

ETP Express

This general purpose locking bush is for the connection of hubs/gears/cams/sprockets to shafts.  It is particularly easy to set with a single radial screw allowing stepless radial and axial adjustment.  The thin wall construction allows compact assemblies.  Available for shafts 15 to 100mm.

Design
ETP-EXPRESS consists of a double walled, hardened steel sleeve filled with a pressure medium, and a flange part. In the flange there is a screw and a piston, with a seal for pressure buildup.

Function
When the pressure screw is tightened, the sleeve expands evenly along the shaft and hub and creates a secure connection through friction locking. After the pressure screw is loosened, the sleeve returns to its original position and can be easily removed.

Features:

  • Extremely fast assembly/disassembly with only a single pressure screw (d> 80 mm, two screws)
  • Radial tightening of the pressure screw allows space-saving installation dimensions
  • Extremely small mounting dimensions
  • Good concentricity accuracy, even after several assemblies

ETP Express Type R & C

Corrosion resistant locking bush.

These locking bushes connect hubs to shafts on machinery where surface corrosion can be a problem, for example food, process and chemical machinery.  EXPRESS type R is constructed in stainless steel and is available for shafts 15 to 60mm.  EXPRESS type C is nickel plated for shafts 15 to 50mm.  Both types are easily set and removed with the single radial pressurisation screw.

Design
ETP-EXPRESSS type R is made from hardened stainless steel.ETP-EXPRESS type C is match with chemical nickel, around 15 m thick. The resistance to corrosion is further increased by the high phosphor content. The screw for both products is made from stainless steel

Function
ETP-EXPRESS type R and type C correspond to the standard ETP-EXPRESS. The following is valid for type C:

  • The transferable torque is lower as a result of the lower friction coefficients for nickel
  • Contact surfaces must be carefully cleaned before assembly
  • During assembly on a shaft or hub plated with nickel, the transferable torque is reduced by 50%.

Features:

  • ETP-EXPRESS type R and C have the same functional properties as ETP-EXPRESS. Extremely fast assembly with only a single radial screw , small mounting dimensions, etc
  • All surfaces which may come into contact with the environment are made of stainless steel or coated with nickel
  • The simple cleanability is essential for use in the food industry
  • The pressure medium and lubricant for the screw are approved for use in the food industry

ETP Techno

ETP-TECHNO is a precision locking bush specially designed for applications where high precision together with frequent changes and adjustments are needed.  It gives very high concentricity and can be mounted/dismounted thousands of times.  Shaft sizes are 15 to 100mm.

Design
ETP-TECHNO is made up of a double wall, hardened steel sleeve filled with a pressure medium and a flange part. In the flange there is a press/pressure mechanism, which consists of a screw and piston with a double sealing function, an O-ring and a steel ball, which press against a spherical seat. The outside (D) and inside diameter (d) and the plane surface of the hub-side flange are machined for extremely smooth running. The piston and the cylinder are designed to cope with several thousand assembly/disassembly cycles.

Function
When the pressure screw is tightened, the double walled sleeve extends evenly along the shaft and hub and creates a secure connection. After the pressure screw is slackened, the ETP-TECHNO returns to its original dimensions can be easily removed.

Thanks to the unique hydraulic principle, this system offers a number of advantages:

  • Fast assembly/disassembly. Only one screw has to be tightened
  • Extremely good concentricity accuracy, even after several assemblies
  • Can be assembled/disassembled more than 1000 times
  • Can even be fitted in installations where space is at a premium
  • The pressure screw is tightened radially to the shaft
  • Small mounting dimensions
  • The hub can be easily and accurately adjusted

ETP Classic

ETP-CLASSIC is a general purpose locking bush used in a wide variety of applications to fix hubs, cams, gears and sprockets to shafts. The connection is steplessly adjustable, both radially and axially, and backlash free.  ETP-CLASSIC suits shafts from 15 to 100mm.

Design
ETP-CLASSIC consists of a double walled, hardened steel sleeve (filled with a pressure medium), a seal, a piston and a flange with retaining screws.

Function
When the screws are tightened, the sleeve expands evenly along the shaft and hub and creates a secure connection. After the screws are slackened, the sleeve returns to its original dimensions and can be easily removed.

Features:

  • Compact installation dimensions and moderate surface pressure allow small outside hub diameter
  • Fast assembly and disassembly
  • Precise hub setting can be carried out during assembly
  • Low screw-tightening torque and few screws allow the simplest assembly
  • Good concentricity accuracy, even after being fitted and removed multiple times
  • ETP-CLASSIC is equipped with socket screws, however hexagon bolts are also available as accessories.

ETP Classic R

Meeting the demand from the food & process industries, the ETP-CLASSIC is constructed in stainless steel and is therefore corrosion resistant.  It is available for shafts 15 to 50mm.

Design
The ETP-CLASSIC type R is assembled in the same way as the standard ETP-CLASSIC, but is made from stainless steel. The type R has rust-free hexagon screws, which can be more easily cleaned - which is for example important when being used on machines in the food industry.

Function
The ETP-CLASSIC type R is the same as the standard ETP-CLASSIC with the following exceptions:

  • Due to the use of rust-free screws, more retaining screws are required
  • The transmittable torque is lower

Features:

  • ETP-CLASSIC type R has the same functional properties as ETP-CLASSIC. As the pressure builds up by tightening the screws, fine adjustment, etc. is possible
  • All parts are made from stainless steel. This requirement is becoming increasingly common In the food industry

ETP Mini & Mini R

Designed for small shafts, the ETP-MINI mechanical locking bush creates a backlash free hub connection that is adjustable and easy to remove.  Type R is constructed in stainless steel for the food and process industries.  Both types are available for shafts 6 to 14mm.

Design
ETP-MINI consists of two conical, partially slotted steel sleeves (type R stainless steel) and retaining screws (type R rust-free) and is therefore equivalent to a mechanical locking element with high precision.

Function
When the screws are tightened, the inner sleeve presses against the shaft and the outer sleeve presses against the hub, which creates a secure connection. For disassembly, one or two of the screws must be screwed into the threaded holes of the flange. When the screws are screwed in, the sleeves are released and the connection is broken. ETP-MINI type R has one more screw than the standard ETP-MINI, so that it can transmit the same torque (lower tightening torque for rust-free screws). The mounting dimensions are identical.

Features:

  • Easy to install
  • Good concentricity accuracy
  • Permits wide tolerances
  • Type R completely made of stainless steel
  • ETP-MINI R has rust-proof hexagon socket screws, but rust-proof hexagon head screws are also available
